Our featured flower this week is the anemone…a personal favorite. Seeing them grow in the fields of northern Israel was always a special treat. And my grandmother used to really love them as well. So it definitely has a special place in my heart.
From late winter to early spring, we love using this black-centered, mysterious flower for weddings and events that are outdoors or have a wild or garden look. They are also great for events and weddings that want to highlight black as a color, but maybe just an accent. The anemone can be found in various colors shades of white, pink, purple, magenta, red and burgundy. And we LOVE THEM ALL!!!
They have a vase life of 5 to 7 days, but be sure to change water frequently (and keep the vase full) because they are heavy drinkers. Light and heat helps to open up the petals so be sure when arranging to leave ample room and keep them out of light if you don’t want them to open right away.
P.S. Here’s a fun fact: they are in the same family as the RANUNCULUS! Another favorite. We love that family!
